FREE Folger programming all summer long!
Bring your friends and join the Folger for relaxed summer evening with food, drinks, music, dancing, poetry, and more. It’s a chance to discover new artists and performers and explore the Folger’s galleries and gardens.
Celebrate the unique dance styles of Cuba with a live band! DC Casineros will offer dance lessons and demonstration from 5:30pm-6:30pm followed by a performance by the Gerardo Contino Band.
Picnics are welcome on the Folger lawn and drinks will be available to purchase. Our exhibition halls will be open throughout the evening; timed-entry passes are recommended.

Gerardo Contino
Gerardo Contino, the vibrant Cuban singer and songwriter, epitomizes the soulful fusion of Afro-Cuban rhythms with contemporary sounds. Hailing from Havana, Contino’s music pulsates with the rich heritage of his homeland while seamlessly blending in elements of salsa, jazz, and funk. With a voice that resonates passion and authenticity, he has enthralled audiences worldwide, from New York’s iconic venues to international stages. Contino’s electrifying performances are a testament to his boundless energy and charisma, captivating listeners with infectious beats and heartfelt lyrics that transcend language barriers. As a former lead singer of the legendary Cuban band “NG La Banda,” he has garnered acclaim for his dynamic stage presence and innovative musical arrangements.
DC Casineros
DC Casineros is a world-renowned dance company that performs Cuban dance Social and popular dance and at times follkloric dances, including Casino, Son, Rueda de Casino, Cuban Rumba, Cha Cha Chá, Mambo, Danzón, Mozambique and newer styles such as reggeaton, Cubaton and Reparto. DC Casineros has superb instructors that offer weekly Son, Casino and Rueda de Casino classes at Dance Place in Northeast DC. DC Casineros Instructors are available for private classes and professional duet performances at private events.
