Synopsis:

The duke makes plans with Friar Peter, whom he sends away on errands, and then greets Varrius.

Enter Duke and Friar Peter.

DUKEgiving the Friar papers. 
2327  These letters at fit time deliver me.
2328  The Provost knows our purpose and our plot.
2329  The matter being afoot, keep your instruction
2330  And hold you ever to our special drift,
2331 5 Though sometimes you do blench from this to that
2332  As cause doth minister. Go call at Flavius’ house
2333  And tell him where I stay. Give the like notice
2334  To Valencius, Rowland, and to Crassus,
2335  And bid them bring the trumpets to the gate.
2336 10 But send me Flavius first.
FRIAR PETER  2337 It shall be speeded well.He exits.

Enter Varrius.

2338  I thank thee, Varrius. Thou hast made good haste.
2339  Come, we will walk. There’s other of our friends
2340  Will greet us here anon. My gentle Varrius.
