Henry VI, Part 1 - Act 5, scene 2Act 5, scene 2
⌜Scene 2⌝
Synopsis:
Charles is informed that the divided English army has united and is advancing toward him.
Enter Charles, Burgundy, Alanson, Bastard,Reignier, and Joan ⌜la Pucelle, with Soldiers.⌝
CHARLES
2210 These news, my lords, may cheer our drooping spirits:
2211 ’Tis said the stout Parisians do revolt
2212 And turn again unto the warlike French.
ALANSON
2213 Then march to Paris, royal Charles of France,
2214 5 And keep not back your powers in dalliance.

PUCELLE 2215 Peace be amongst them if they turn to us;
2216 Else ruin combat with their palaces!
Enter Scout.
SCOUT
2217 Success unto our valiant general,
2218 And happiness to his accomplices.
CHARLES
2219 10 What tidings send our scouts? I prithee speak.
SCOUT
2220 The English army that divided was
2221 Into two parties is now conjoined in one,
2222 And means to give you battle presently.
CHARLES
2223 Somewhat too sudden, sirs, the warning is,
2224 15 But we will presently provide for them.
BURGUNDY
2225 I trust the ghost of Talbot is not there.
2226 Now he is gone, my lord, you need not fear.
PUCELLE
2227 Of all base passions, fear is most accursed.
2228 Command the conquest, Charles, it shall be thine;
2229 20 Let Henry fret and all the world repine.
CHARLES
2230 Then on, my lords, and France be fortunate!
They exit.
