I’m a researcher on the Encyclopaedia of Shakespeare’s Language at Lancaster University. So I work with Shakespeare every day. Which is funny because both my grandfather’s loved Shakespeare but died 20 years before I was born. Shakespeare is in my genes.

Being theatre majors, my husband and I made sure our boys read Shakespeare and watched films, but the real thrill came when we took them to see Midsummer Night’s Dream in Stratford, Ontario. To see their eyes light up or jaws drop as they watched and laughed meant the world to me. They were hooked and we still share memories of that experience even as we make new memories with other Shakespeare productions, including several of us participating in a production of Much Ado. Nothing better in life than that.

When I was playing Lord Capulet three of my sisters brought my mother down to NC from her assisted care facility in MD. At the intermission, my mother said, “I guess Bob’s part is not very big!”
