I see what appear to be stairs. So I imagine that this is an upper level or a tower. Hence the wiggly lines depict the air moving around the outside of the structure. My first two thoughts were water and dirt but that seemed too obvious.

What is this print made on? The ‘wavy lines’ look like veining. Could this be a print on a skin of some kind?

Could it be that the plate itself was cracked from overuse pr poor printing technique, or that the more spidery ones came from the ground failing?
