Rob Clines

Rob Clines (he/him) is Associate Professor of History and Affiliate Faculty in Global Black Studies and International Studies at Western Carolina University.

His first book, A Jewish Jesuit in the Eastern Mediterranean, was published by Cambridge University Press in 2019. His recent essays have appeared in postmedieval, Bibliotheca Dantesca, and The Memoirs of the American Academy in Rome. While at the Folger, he is completing a book manuscript entitled Ancient Others: Race, Empire, and the Invention of the Italian Renaissance, and is beginning a new project on race and gender in Renaissance epic poetry.
