Horacio Sierra

Horacio Sierra is a Professor of English at Bowie State University, Maryland’s oldest HBCU. His research and teaching interests include Renaissance literature and culture, popular culture, and Hispanic literature and culture.

Dr. Sierra’s academic work has been published in Comparative Drama, Sixteenth-Century Journal, Early Modern Women, Public Humanities, Women’s Studies, International Journal of Cuban Studies, Journal of Florida Literature, and Theatre Journal. His journalism has been published in The Washington Post, The Baltimore Sun, Forbes, and The Miami Herald. In 2023 President Biden appointed him to the President’s Committee on the Arts and Humanities. Dr. Sierra has also hosted trivia nights at bars in Washington, D.C.; Miami, Florida; Dublin, Ireland; and San Juan, Puerto Rico.
