is an assistant professor of English at The City University of New York Hostos Community College. She is a scholar of early modern England and Spain with subspecialties in postcolonialism and theories of empire. Her book, Spanish Romance in the Battle for Global Supremacy: Tudor and Stuart Black Legends (Anthem Press, 2020), shows how England’s fanatical consumption of the so-called books of the brave Iberian conquistadors rooted the idea of English empire as a civilized alternative to Spanish conquest.
